I'm looking to buy a ceramic hair straightener...which is the best brand?

Also, why is there such a major difference of prices between straighteners? Does it have to do with speed, quality, etc.I'm looking to buy a ceramic hair straightener...which is the best brand?
Go to Sally Beauty Supply to pick up a professional brand which will last much longer for the money than a drug store consumer brand. The Sally brands are used by Hairdressers, so they are more powerful and built for lots of use. Sally carries a lot of different brands and sizes. You can have a better look at the features %26amp; benefits and find the right one that fits your budget.I'm looking to buy a ceramic hair straightener...which is the best brand?
For the money I suggest the one I have. It's called a Solia and I paid $88 for it from www.folica.com. It's currently on sale for I think $79? It's the one with the blue ceramic plates. I've had mine for 4-5 years now and I love it. I have very thick, course, curly hair. It heats up to 450 degrees which is what I use.
Well I have a flatline and its really good, GHDs are supposed to be good but a few people i know had one and it blew up =( also sum straightners can do curls...it also depends on your hair type, if your hair is curly and/or thick you would want one that has quite a high temperature.
It depends on what type of hair you have, i have quite alot of layers, i use treseme phillips one, it doesnt really make it poker straight, but it does the job , i used to use my sisters ghds they are very good and make it poker straight, but i straightend my friends hair with my straightens , her hair is very long, and it looked like i had straightened them with ghds.

have a good long think, do you really need to straighten your hair? once you start you cant really stop, even if you use hair protector, straightening can dry hair out and make it very unhealthy and give everystrand of hair a split end!
Farouk CHI 1 Inch Ceramic Flat Hairstyling Iron

From CHI

Price: $87.50

Product Description

Chi Original 1'; Farouk CHI Ceramic Flat Iron Model GF-1001 The CHI can be considered

the handle to prevent accidentally turning the unit off when in use. The heat paddles are

recessed from the edges to prevent skin burns. Will automatically heat up in less than 10

seconds. Temperature is preset at 150-180 degrees Celsius(302-356 degrees Fahrenheit)

Gold-N-Hot it's $40.
Depending on your ethnicity there is a difference. More fine hair types can go with Revlon or more national brands like that. For coarser hair, I would suggest CHI if you can afford it, they are kind of pricey (starting at about $95) but they work really well. Another type that I have used and worked great are Helen of Troy or Gold Tools. Go to Ulta if you have one close by that way once you try it if you don't like it you can take it back and try another one, without a whole lot of return stress. Also try Redken Spray Starch, this helps your hair to stay straight longer, and there is little if any buildup. Good Luck
I like Vidal Sassoon. You can find it in different shapes, sizes, and prices
if you want your hair to get really straight invest in buying something really good. look in folica.com they have pretty good ones. Chi is recommended
chi is the number one selling straightner! it gets the hottest, and it has equal heating through the iron plates. which means no hot spots. and by the way a professional does not go to sally beauty supply,. we use our supply house which is not open to the public. also a chi comes with a year warranty. it is well worth your money. i use it on all hair types and get great results.

Why is a ceramic hair straightener considered better than a non-ceramic hair straightener?

Perfect heat transfer, compared to metallic ones- which can burn and damage hair

How well does the Conair Instant Heat Ultra Hot Professional 2'; Ceramic Hair Straightener work?

Okay, I've read tons of reviews on the internet, but I'm not really sure how well this works. Here is the link:

I's like it if you've had experience using it. Thanks!!!How well does the Conair Instant Heat Ultra Hot Professional 2'; Ceramic Hair Straightener work?
I guess I'm the only one that likes this straightener.. it heats up fast and the comb is pretty useful (you can take it out if you don't like it), the only problem is that i've gone through about 3 in a year and a half. The one that I have now i've been using for like 2-3 months and there's no problem. The 1st one I had was perfect and it broke b/c of me (had it for like 3-4 months), the 2nd stopped heating up (1-2 months), the 3rd one's handles broke and then eventually didn't start heating up as fast anymore (5 months).. but no problems so far w/ this one.. it makes my hair silky soft and really straight (the comb helps here), i personally like the bigger size b/c it shortens the time i spend straightening my hair... hope this helps :)How well does the Conair Instant Heat Ultra Hot Professional 2'; Ceramic Hair Straightener work?
Personally i don't trust conair products they NEVER work like their suppose to..if i were you i would go to http://www.folica.com/ and look for a straightner but before settling on one i would read the reviews..believe me they're helpful! =]
i dont know how good that will work with the brush things on it cuz they would get tangled in my hair, but a great one to use is

http://www.conair.com/instant-heat-ceram鈥?/a>

it is the one i have and i love it!! it heats up in less than 30 secs and is a wet/dry one too!

don't be fooled by the curved plate, because it straighens just like a reagular one, but if u want to curl the ends under, or curl ur bangs a little (which is what i do) its good for that!! i absolutly love mine and use it almost every day!! =D

its worth the 30 bucks for it i promise!! if you are looking for a good straightener, then that's a good one to use!!
I had that exact straightener. I didn't like how bulky it was though. it felt like I was dragging 5 pounds through my hair when I was straightening it. Also, the ceramic plates started stripping after a while. it ended up dying like after 8 months. I haven't had another conair since. I would find something else.

What is the best full ceramic hair straightener should i get?

i want the full ceramic ones not just the ceramic coated ones.. and what should i get? i heard the chi was really good but breaks down easily.. and where should i get it?? and what's the best one.. cause there are so many straighteners out there..

-vancouver, canadaWhat is the best full ceramic hair straightener should i get?
I have a Chi and it works fine for me. Go to a beauty supply store and they should be able to help you pick a reliable one. What is the best full ceramic hair straightener should i get?
CHI, I had mine now for 11 months and very happy with it. I never heard of the rumors of them breaking. they must not take care of them. mine still heats up good. gives me the silky smooth hair all the time. fast to do my hair to with me having long hair. Im glad i left the cheap crap and invested in a CHI. Good Luck =)

I had a CHI and it wasn't any good. It made my hair frizzy over time. I also found out that it wasn't 100% ceramic, only the top was or something, but it only tells you that inside in the instruction book. I like the company BioIonic. I have had my straightener for about 6 months and it works great. My hair is really curly and I can even get it pretty straight with just using the straightener and not a blow dryer. Just make sure you use good products to go with it so you don't dry out your hair (I use Davines products).
Sedu is really good. Here's a link and check out the reviews. Avoid TV irons those suck really bad. I'd had my sedu for a year and it works just as good as when i got it. It gives me super straight (i mean slick straight asian looking) hair. Good luck!

P.S.

Your right about investing in a good quality straightner because those 50 dollar ones just don't give good results.

Where can i find a ceramic hair straightener in New Delhi?

i really want one.. just can't find one..:)Where can i find a ceramic hair straightener in New Delhi?

Any suggestions for a ceramic hair straightener that won't damage hair?

I don't want to damage my hair, but I want to straighten it. My hair is unbelieveably thick, so I would like something that might speed up the process. I am also almost willing to pay a good price for it, if it's really worth it.Any suggestions for a ceramic hair straightener that won't damage hair?
A while ago i asked my stylist and he actually told me that the majority of ceramic straighteners are okay to use and do much less damage than metal straighteners. As far as making it speedy, i have extremely thick hair as well and i find straighteners that are wet to dry (can be used on wet hair) work best because it cuts out the blow-drying time and makes it surprisingly smooth.Any suggestions for a ceramic hair straightener that won't damage hair?
CHI straightners. If you get serum to go with it, it works a lot better!
    Sedu!!!

    http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_r1鈥?/a>
CHI straighteners are amazing. Many celebs use them too.. you always see them on their shows...i believe it is also by the Global Beauty Group.. or whatever the other person wrote. You could pick one up at ULTA.. trust me.. worth the money! Plus, it comes with a warranty!
    i kno alot
I bought a $25 Vidal Sassoon iron at Target and I'm totally happy with it. With thick hair, you're going to have to be patient and always put the iron on its hottest setting. Get an iron thats 1-2'; wide and work in small sections...it's the way you straighten your hair, rather than the iron, that does most of the work.

Start by putting the upper half of your hair up in a clip or ponytail (I recommend drying your hair first with the nozzle attachment, always pointing the dryer down, and probably with a bit of balm like the Straight Sexy Hair straightening balm). Working in small sections, pull the iron down the length of your hair...it should take you a slow count of 5 to 7 to do each section. If you need to re-straighten a section, let it cool a bit before going over it again. Once the whole layer is done, let the rest of your hair down and do the same to the upper layer. Make sure to give the iron a few seconds between sections to heat up fully.

There's no point to buying the $100ish straightening irons. If you want a really good one, the pro ones cost about $300 at least. A good stylist can give you a recommendation (and possibly a discount) on one of those, but they're not really available to the general public. This ';chi'; stuff is just a marketing scheme. Ceramic plates are ceramic plates.

The only way a ceramic iron will damage your hair is if it's too hot (a good vote against getting a pro iron) or if the plates aren't smooth (don't drop yours!). Good luck. A bit of shine serum (KMS flat out shine drops) when your done and a shot of cold air from the blow dryer should finish it all off.
Global Beauty Ceramic Hair Straightener. Its the best for thick hair. I have very thick hair as well and this makes it perfectly straight.
ironing your hair doesnt necessarily mean damaging them. if you are using a good ceramin iron, and use a good vitamin enriched serum before and after is pretty much u have to do to have nice shiny straight and healthy hair after ironing it.

i have been using a VERY good iron from CHI...this brand has the iron in many sizes, depending on how u want it, but the one i have is one inch thick, its ceramic, it has a automatic controllable temperature and im very very satisfied with it....it makes it really really easy to do ur work and believe me the results are amazing.

i have been using it for more than a year now and its the best purchase i ve ever made!

a friend had it, and i tried it and i saw how good it was so i ordered it...it was around 100 US dollars, but its worth it.

i did some internet search and i found the website that has it for the cheapest price, and if u are interested this is it:

    www.metrobeauty.com

and the direct link to order the specific one i was telling u about is:

    http://www.metrobeauty.com/cart.cfm?cart鈥?/a>

    good luck!
    revlon and vidal sassoon products.
Try coriolis, you may be able to buy it at the mall for about $100 unless you can get one cheaper on eBay. I also recommend Phyto straightening balm from sephora. This will make the straightening process so much easier.

    Good luck!!

Neither. If you want a really good ceramic hair straightener, go for GHD. Yes, they are expensive but you wont regret it, it's the best!

Don't do what my friend did... First she had an old school metal straightener but it was too bulky and didnt do a good job... So she bought a cheap brand ceramic one like you mentioned (coz she ';couldn't afford'; GHD) then decided after a couple of months that it was junk... Then she bought a slightly dearer one for about $100 and after about 6 months wanted a better one... Then she saw one on tv that she thought looked really good so her dad bought it for her but soon she realised it was rubbish as well... So finally she said ';Stuff it I'll just buy a GHD';... and she's had it for 6 years now and still loves it!

The only thing she regrets is not buying the best one in the first place coz she ended up spending $400 on hair straighteners that didn't do a great job, then $299 on GHD which she should've just done in the first place!

  • I NEED OPINIONS ON THIS ASAP...Which of these ceramic hair straighteners would you recommend ?

***IF YOU HAVE FINE FRIZZY HAIR ONLY***** My hair is fine and easily gets frizzy. I used to have a ConAir ceramic hair straightener, but it started to have that burn smell every time I turned it on. I want to get a good hair straightener that's NOT over $20, but still will do its job. I am planning to get one of the following hair ceramic straighteners......http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d鈥?/a> OR Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic straightener (I know the website says this is over $20, but I could have sworn I saw this for like $19 something). So, which hair straightener would you recommend?I NEED OPINIONS ON THIS ASAP...Which of these ceramic hair straighteners would you recommend ?
if you want a good straightner then you have to pay for it...you definetly get what you pay for..

$20 straightners are crap...i know this just from my own experiencesI NEED OPINIONS ON THIS ASAP...Which of these ceramic hair straighteners would you recommend ?
Splurge on a great straightner instead of a cheap one that will work for a month and ruin your hair.
Not over $20? Any flat iron under $20 is most likely not going to do the job and just end up severely damaging your hair.
I've read good things on the Andis, but I've personally used the Revlon %26amp; it worked alright. I've gotten better results with other [inexpensive] straightener, but the Revlon works. I know you said 'fine' hair only, but I have thick, very curly hair, so if it works on my hair, it'll work on yours.

And no, you don't have to spend big bucks on a good straightener, especially since it sounds like your hair doesn't need 400F degrees anyway.

Anyway, hope I helped %26amp; good luck!

the first answer is the one id go by too the ones at sallys are just as good as the ones at the salon....nice and cheap too about thirty dollars maybe a little more.
i've heard CHI is the best...I'm about to get mine soon. ANyway they're regular price is anywhere from 150-200 but you can find it for sale around 80-90. seriously it will be worth it because you'll have it for a while and plus you dont wanna spend 30-40 dollars on some flat iron thats not garanteed to work.
conair has a really good one. it is the wet2dry and about $30.00 and works really well. No frizz and no smell of burning hair.
I've been through 4 straighteners and I finally found the perfect one (for me at least).

It's from Remington and it costed about 40 euros,so I believe you can find it for 45-50 dollars tops!

Whatever you choose,go for a brand name that offers guarantee and full service.

Don't buy the cheap anonymus stuff that may stop working after a month, and most important, that will damage your hair by frying it!

It's better to spend a bit more once, than damaging your hair and buying a new straightener every other month.

Looking for a good ceramic hair straightener?

i have this wet2strait one, it wuz like $30 for the 2in. one, or like $20 for the 1in one. i luv it!
Well this sounds really dumb but i got a realy good Conair breast cancer steightener and it was like only $25.00 at

wal-mart.lol it works really good and it small and it heats up in like 30 seconds

Can the plates on ceramic hair straighteners ';go'; so to speak?

I went to stop with my mum and while I was there was allowed to use her hair straighteners. Soon after, they started going kind of rusty/dirty looking around the edges. My mother blamed me firstly saying it was because I didnt put product on my hair when i used them, then it was because I did..too hot , not hot enough etc etc. I was totally baffled as they could not be wiped clean and seemed to be getting hotter as time went on..some months and many heated discussions later..the casing of them has gone what looks like scorched..II put them on my bed the other day and they burnt the quilt( I am not using them anymore) they had never done that before. A friend of mine said the plates have ';gone'; my mother says my hair(it is only normal human hair average in every way..no excessive use of product, washed 4 times per week) has caused them to go like this. I have never had this happen to any other straighteners and I cant take much more from mum..please help somebody..many thanks...Dee xCan the plates on ceramic hair straighteners ';go'; so to speak?
basically you need new straighteners.....Can the plates on ceramic hair straighteners ';go'; so to speak?
    buy a new straightener.

it must have been a cheapie.

i am getting a new CHI this wednesday.

    i had a cheapie.

the plates are worn and gone.

    the smell from the heat is horrible and makes your hair smell like that when you are done straightening it {{$20 Conair 2'; from Wal mart}}

it straightens well, just plates are worn, and the smell is bad, so it leaves your hair smelling burnt.

in replace of that i bought a $40 Revlon 2 ';Wet-2-Dry straigtener from Walmart.

i figured it would work better because the blades have waves in it.

    it rips your hair out.

    no smell.

does straighten all that well, but RIPS YOUR HAIR OUT BADLY!

    and it hurts.

so finally my mother gave in and finally ordered a $130 1'; CHI straigtener from our salon that we go to.
if they have become like this from normal wear and tear then I would say you have an el cheapo brand of straightener and you need to get a new and better one.. also.. if you have had the straightener for less than 12 months.. contact the manufacturer and tell them what has happened.. ask for a refund or some kind of compensation. Unless it says otherwise.. then generally these things only come with a 12 month warranty. So sorry to say but if you've had it for more than that then the manufacturer won't be of any help.

As for putting it on your bed.. well that was silly! straighteners do get extremely hot and should never be left to rest on fabric surfaces.

As for your mum.. tell her (repectfully) that it is ridiculous to say that it is because you didn't use product. If it were because of that.. then the manufacturers would surely mention in their instruction guide that you need to apply some kind of serum or something to your hair first. The fact that she is contradicting herself by saying ';you didn't use any'; then '; you used too much'; or ';you didn't use enough';.. suggests she is just looking for someone else to blame or some excuse to pick an argument with you. Maybe suggest that she do your hair if she thinks that she knows just the right way to do it.

    Good luck.
Hi Ive never had this before but the plates on mine did stop heating up once, are they cheap ones as I think all that it is is both of you using them and the hair products etc making the plates go that way, it got nothing to do with you hair at all that what they are for, so your mum should stop blaming you. its as much her fault as yours, and the manufacturors, I wouldnt use them at all if they look dodgy, get your own ones and use them.

    There just cheap nasty ones.

=== Tips for buying professional hair appliances ===

Do NOT buy professional hair appliances from unauthorized places like amazom.com, eBay, Target, Walmart, etc. Because if you do, manufacturers will refuse to honor the warranty. Buy from licensed places like salon, licensed professional beauty stores like Folica.com, Ulta.com, West Coast Beauty Supply Inc. etc
    No. i can't say I have.

    Check google, and search it.

If there is I bet you can find it on E-bay or amazon.com.
No for Eco.......but I have heard extensively that ceramic DEFINITELY DAMAGES YOUR HAIR LESS, so go for what ceramic iron you can afford.

CERAMIC PRICE DIFFERENCES ARE HUGE, FOR NOT A LOT OF DIFFERENCE IN EFFECT.

    Good luck!
Nope! Sorry, i tried searching it on Google images, but nothing came up called ';Eco professional ceramic hair straightener';.

H2D (Hair 2 Day) Ceramic Hair Straighteners?

    Opinions on them?

    -Has anyone got them?

    -Are they worth there money?

-How long does your hair stay straight?

    -Overall comment?

..Im looking into getting some as GHD's are too expensive in my eyes and aparently H2D's are GHD indulgence so they sound good but im not sure?H2D (Hair 2 Day) Ceramic Hair Straighteners?
I have never heard of them but if you are in the UK you should look into the Sedu flat irons. Some are made with the UK plug and they have tourmaline and ceramic plates. They also have an adjustable heat control, something that I don't think the GHD irons have.

How should I clean my ceramic hair straightener?

Mix arm and hammer baking soda with a little shampoo or soap and water to make a paste (unplug iron!) dip wash cloth in mixture and rub iron blades. The baking soda will dissolve the product buildup.Be sure not to use too much moisture when doing this.Use the rest of the mixture to clean your brushes and combs!Good luck to you.How should I clean my ceramic hair straightener?
Use a little alcohol and wipe it off. The product build up should come off easily.

Oh, and use a lint free cloth. The lint from a paper towel will burn the next time you use it. Allow it to dry completely (over night before the next use) and it should evaporate completely.

Most of the commercial ones use mainly alcohol anyway. How should I clean my ceramic hair straightener?
For a quick fix you could simply use rubbing alcohol but make sure to wipe it off with water after that.

If you want a really good clean go to a beauty supply shop (In my city we have one called Sally's Beauty Supply)

So if you have a place like that they actually sell flat iron cleaner and I think it is pretty cheap maybe 2 or 3 dollars tops. I've used it and it works very well.
i was wondering the same thing, what about any kind of hair straightener?
when ya find out, tell me!!

Do any of you gals use Corioliss Pro Ceramic Hair straightener?

I use the Corioliss Pro Ceramic Hair straightener (the pick one) %26amp; my hair has been falling out *sad face*!! It has Tourmaline ceramic plate which is supposed to protect your hair. Do any of you gals use this hair straightener?Do any of you gals use Corioliss Pro Ceramic Hair straightener?
Hey, I have the pink one.. bought it last year (not from the mall either, but on ebay and it is the actual one too). No, it doesn't make my hair fall out, BUT if you clamp the iron down on your hair too hard and then pull down to straighten then YES your hair will fall (pull) out. don't do that. Hair sheds everyday, so if its just a normal amt dont worry but if u are getting WAY too much hair falling out then i dunno what to tell you. Do you even out anything in your hair first before straightening? like a serum or mopisturizer? Thats what protects your hair from the headt, cuz if u dont protect it then guess what you're hairs gonna fry off. My iron doesnt even have a temperature adjustment it has 1 heat setting which is 210掳C and that is hot.... hotter than boiling.Do any of you gals use Corioliss Pro Ceramic Hair straightener?
yes and it's horrible. go to a salon and find yourself a Wigo or a CHI, spendy yes. but WEELLLLL worth it. the Wigo runs between 40 - 80 dollars and the CHI's are usually between 80 - 150, ask if they can special order it for you if they don't have them in stock.
If your hair has been falling out its best to not add any heat to it. Try to wear it as natural as possible. Yes, the hair straightner does work, but it weakens the hair and breaks it a little...

What's the best way to clean my ceramic hair straightener?

when i bought mine, the sales lady told me it can be cleaned by alcohol. What's the best way to clean my ceramic hair straightener?
hi i am a hair dresser and the best way to clean a ceramic straightener is to turn it on ane let it heat up,

then turn it off and while it is still warm wipe over the ceramic plate with a warm cloth. this will remove any product build up

but be careful not to burn yourself!! hope this helps!!What's the best way to clean my ceramic hair straightener?
After evey time i use mine i normally get a clean rag with a very small amount of ';Simple Green'; on it and I whipe my flat iron down. Then I find a clean area of the rag with no cleaner on it and I damp the rag with hot water to make sure all the simple green is off my flat iron. The i like to whipe my flat iron down one mare time to dry it. Sometimes I will leave it on for a fe minutes after I clean it so everything burns off. Then next time when I use it I turn it on and let it get hot (of course) and the then if anything was left on the iron it has now had the chance to burn all of!!! Im sure you could use any cleaner or even rubbing alcohol..
    bleach
put some alcohol on a cotton ball or somethign similar and wipe it down.. let it dry and i usually wipe it off with a damp cloth too juts to make sure there isnt any alcohol residue.

works great cant really hurt it as long as you dont put too much liquid on it.

    CERAMIC Hair Straighteners.. Help?

O.K. I'm 14 years old. Im currently using Ceramic Hot Tools Straightener. Iv had it since i was 13 and it's time for a new one. Money does not matter. I would like a CERAMIC hair straightener that works well. I have VERY thin hair, and naturally straight but i straighten it anyways. Don't ask why. I just do, it makes it look nicer. I heard CHI is good, but i don't need such a high temerature cause my hair is thin.

ALSO* My hair is dry. Are there any products that WORK and that will get my hair hydrated?

Thank you so much!!CERAMIC Hair Straighteners.. Help?
My advice is to get away from hair straighteners as soon as possible. They mess up your hair so bad. Trust me you'll regret it when your my age. Hair won't grow, so many different layers that are like 1 inch long, can't do anything with it. Yeah so try to get away from them if possible.CERAMIC Hair Straighteners.. Help?

Jibrere Tourmaline................and a great glosser, ask the girls at Sally Beauty supply, they will be happy to help.
infiniti by conair is amazing! and it lets you choose the exact temperature so you can choose one of the lower ones. its only $50 and you can get it about anywhere
Since you don't have thick curly hair a drugstore brand would work just as well as professional tools. I have curly hair and I use Remington Wet 2 Straight ceramic straightener. It can be used on wet to moist hair and has a vent on the side for the steam. I think it cost about $40 at Longs Drugs.
theres a mary-kate and ashley brand hair straightener that straitens your hair whether you came out of the shower or you are just styling it. It really does work well.

Try True Ceramic Pro it's supposed to be the best thing out there...
Yes, there are products that help and work but all you have to do is some research. Here's a website that will help you decide what straightener is right for you. I bought mine from this website and I couldn't be happier with my purchase (it is a Solia). They have tons of reviews with pictures.
I would go with the Aveda ceramic hair streightner it has a warranty and multiple temp controls. Also for drying of the hair try aquage, its a bit pricey but WELL worth it, its a must have.

    http://www.aquage.com/
being a mobile hairdresser for years,i wouldnt recomend hair straightners, they ruin your hair, and if you have fine hair you hair will break easier.
Yes, you are correct CHI is definitely the best...you should check and see if they have any straighteners that have a lower temp. or you could always use Kenra Thermal Styling Spray, which will protect your hair against the high temperatures of straighteners.

I too have very dry hair, and Redken has a lot of products that can make your hair look and feel much healthier. You should try Redken AllSoft Heavy Creme, Redken Butter Treat, or Redken Extreme Deep Conditioner. These products are all wonderful for dry hair.

  • Problem with my ceramic hair straightener?

I just bought rowenta elite hair styler it consists of curler and straightener however when i straighten my hair and curl it , after less than one hr it is notstraight anymore and the curl is gone and i am back to my old. Can anyone help me cos i am goin to prom night tomorrow and wanted to straighten my hair.Problem with my ceramic hair straightener?
well it isnt the straightener, it s your hair, you must have very fine hair like me i have the same problem, try putting mousse or hairspray in your hair when its wet, and brush it while you blow dry, it should be straighter after that, then use the straightener, then add more spray, that should do the trick, and a trim might help. if you have split ends then your hair will frizz out more..Problem with my ceramic hair straightener?
    I have a ceramic straighener.

It smells kinda like clay, like those flower pots.

have fun at prom night though! That's strange that it's in fall, ours are always in spring.
Hmm I would straighten your hair in the afternoon, and then at night when your getting ready for the prom.

Then add a light mist of hairspray to keep it in! Hope I helped!
After you curl use hair spray. It hold the hair for hours.you can also buy straightning serum from stores.
I have the same problem, try using a straight hair spray, and hair heating protection.... But to be honest it last only a little more, ceramic its badd...
WELL THAT ALWAYS USED TO HAPPEN TO ME. IF YOU WANT UR HAIR STRAIGHT AND TO STAY STRAIGHT YOU HAVE TO BUY A CHI STRAIGHTNER. THEY TAKE 3 MINUTES TO DO YOU HAIR

The Chi irons and the products aren't that great.Try a Croc Straightener, titanium is the best .For protecting your hair try Kerastase Ciment Thermique or Nectar Thermique if you have really dry hair. Put it it before you blow dry and the protection will carry over with the use of your flat iron.Does the CHI Ceramic hair straightener and thermal protection spray work well?
    Chi's arent good straightners.

Has anyone bought a ceramic hair straightener on ebay and liked it?

I don't recognize the brands on ebay, but really don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money of one. Any suggestions?Has anyone bought a ceramic hair straightener on ebay and liked it?
I got a ceramic flat iron at walmart like two years ago. It gets REALLY HOT but the heat can be adjusted. And it is working perfectly fine. I LOVE IT. And, it was less than $20.Has anyone bought a ceramic hair straightener on ebay and liked it?
I bought a good brand - CHI which retails at beauty stores for $100+ on EBay and got it for a good deal. It works great. I've had a few different ones and the newest one I have which is ceramic really works the best because it keeps your hair straight and smooth all day long. I use it with a smoothing styling cream also by CHI.

How do I take care of my ceramic hair straightener and how do I clean the plates?

(I have a GHD medium styler, if this helps.)How do I take care of my ceramic hair straightener and how do I clean the plates?
they pretty much take care of themselves, you can run over them with a clean damp cloth when they are switched off and dry them with a towelHow do I take care of my ceramic hair straightener and how do I clean the plates?
wait until they are cold unplug them then wipe with some alcohol i find vodka is best, yet wasteful...anyway that should do the trick x
Somebody else posted a similar question and most of the answers were with a clean, damp towel/cloth when they're cool.

Someone else said a baby wipe when they're still warm, but unplugged.

    Good luck.
I used vinegar and it worked a treat. Put some vinegar on some kitchen paper and gently wipe over the plates. Do the same again but with water and then just let them dry.
call me a wimp but i would be very hesitant to put any ';damp'; cloth near an electrical appliance - particularly one that a) cost so much and b) i couldn't live without! the BEST way to clean ceramic plates which has been featured in all magazines and has been tried and tested by myself is either baby wipes or soft make up wipes. think about it, if they can remove last nights make up the morning after then they can remove the cack that builds up on the plates! they work a treat. also, i wouldn't recommend putting vinegar on the plates - surely it would leave a smelly residue? good luck.
I've had my ghd's for 8 years now and have never cleaned them!

I've never straightened my hair with anything on it other then serum so i don't really need to.

If you use hairspray and mouse then i would use a damp cloth on them when they are cool.

What is the difference between a ceramic hair straightener and a normal iron?

i want to get a hair straightner (under $35).

i don't know whats the difference between a ceramic one and a normal one.

my hair is already straight, but a bit on the wavy side and i want to fix bad hair days........ ^^

is a hair dryer more efficient and worth the money?

thnx! What is the difference between a ceramic hair straightener and a normal iron?
the ceramic makes your hair nicer. :%26gt;What is the difference between a ceramic hair straightener and a normal iron?
Ok so ceramic is suppose to be better for your hair and it also works better because it gets hotter.

My advice to you is buy a straightener with a heat setting on the side. Some go from 1-25 for example, and obviously using 25 will get the hottest and be most efficient. I don't think you NEED ceramic, b/c it is much more expensive, but if your not going to get one, I would highlight reccomend one with heat settings. I had one years ago by Hot Tools, bought it in a beauty supply store for like $25! It did the job. Eventually I got a ceramic for xmas but it was $160 which to me is a bit ridiculous. Try the hot tools one-its black a squarish where the metal plates are. Its the best kind for $25, you won't find anything better for that price.

Hair dryer-no. It makes your hair frizzy. Dry it first with a dryer then straighten. Use a product for best results. Something that works with heat. Ask when you go into a store.
ceramic is supposed to have a more even heat distribution, or something like that.

anyway, with a hairdryer i can get my hair to look more naturally straight. with a ceramic iron i can get a stick straight look.
A ceramic hair straightener helps to prevent any damage towards your hair. Unlike a normal one which will burn it and fry your ends.

Using a hair dryer will just make it more frizzy. I have the same kind of hair as you and I think that a small inexpensive straightener will help you out. There are a bunch of great buys at Target with some pretty low prices. Make sure you don't go too cheap, cause then it probably won't work right.
ceramic hair straightners don't damage your hair as much as a normal once would. I would spend the money on a good one because it can last your for a long time and make your hair look much more fantastic
Ceramic heats hair from the inside out so its faster and causes less damage to your hair

Normal ones heat hair normally.. from the outside in... so it takes longer and thus causes more damage

    CHI

    definently.

Excellent quality and worth the price.

You can pick one up at your local beauty store. What is a good ceramic hair straightener that really works?
I have found that glass straighteners work even better than ceramic....More importantly than the straightener, I've found, is the product in your hair prior to straightening. You need good product - I've done well at Sally's although prefer BedHead products most of all.

    Good luck!
well mine works pretty good, it's a conair i think and the price wasnt that bad, it was around $30.00
do to drugstore.com or beauty.com they have customer reviews of all the products and i have found both sites to be very helpful
maxiglide. it combs at the same time so your hair's not just flat.
If you want ceramic, make sure it doesn't just have ceramic plates. A lot of the times cheap $20 dollar ones will say, ';Ceramic Straigtener!'; But they really aren't. They need to be totally ceramic to not damage your hair.

The one I have is Coriolis Pro.

    http://www.hairstyling.co.uk/acatalog/pi鈥?/a>

It comes in pink and lavender. I like it because it doesn't damage hair and make it look burnt like some metal straigteners do.
CHI is awesome. It is pricey though but if it doesnt matter to you (like spending over $100 unless you get a good deal) then go for it. A lot of people love CHI and their products and one year they were America's #1 straightener, I dont know if they still have that title this year.
    the chi

    it cost like 120 dollas

    but it works really good

it leaves yo hair really straight

What is the best ceramic hair straightener?

I really wanna buy one, but i also wanna know who has the best quality...

and there's any difference between the ceramic and the flat iron ones? What is the best ceramic hair straightener?
There are 3 types of flat irons ..

    Regular Straighteners

    Ceramic Straighteners

    Tourmaline Straighteners

Regular straighteners will straighten your hair but you will lose the quality of your hair. Don't look for cheap straighteners, after all, its your hair. The heat is not controlled and the plates heat up to very high levels which may damage hair.

Ceramic Straighteners - These straighteners are good quality and 'ceramic' is an inorganic non-metallic material which is formed by the action of heat. The heat among ceramic straighteners is controlled and gives better results when used on hair. These straighteners are generally used by hair-stylists and used in salons.

Tourmaline Straighteners - Tourmaline is a mineral that is used in gem stones. Tourmaline hair straightener gives shinier and silkier results than a regular hair straightener or a regular ceramic hair straightener because of the natural negative ions %26amp; far infrared rays present in tourmaline. Tourmaline is well known mineral to increase strength of hair and strengthen the immune system. These straighteners are favorite choice of celebrities because they have to use flat irons frequently.

Brands - There are a lot of brands available these days. Sedu, CHI, GHD, Solia, Chameleon, Paul Michelle, Bio Ionic, Babyliss, Corioliss, Maxiglide, T3, etc. etc.

I have used CHI, Sedu, GHD, Solia and Chameleon so far. Chi used to be a great brand, however, it lost its popularity recently for xyz reasons. Now the best brands are Sedu and Chameleon.

The best among Sedu is the Sedu Revolution Nano Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Straightener (2008 Model)

    http://www.ironhairstraightener.com/sedu鈥?/a>

    Chameleon straightener -

    http://www.ironhairstraightener.com/

I would stick with only these two since they are the best among thousands of other straighteners. What is the best ceramic hair straightener?
I know this for a fact of experience that flat irons damage your hair and there's no going back. The best ceramics hair straightener out their is by conair. Try it out , see for yourself the difference in your hair , it straightens but does not give the usual feel of a flat iron so you know your getting results fast, because it straightens hair in one go.
I would say the CHI one. Solia straightener is not that good. It also depends on your hair. i would say that GHD would work on short hair but CHI works the best for longer hair.
i don't know the difference, and you should know before you choose which type you want, I use this one: http://www.conair-store.com/product_deta鈥?/a>
^^i use that one too.works great.don't listen to people say conair is lq.it very hq.

How can I clean my ceramic hair straightener?

When I turn it on it smells like something burning, and the plates feel greasy. I tried using rubbing alcohol but it doesnt really work, does anyone have any other ideas? How can I clean my ceramic hair straightener?

How do you clean a ceramic hair straightener?

My straightener is a ceramic CHI straightener, and it smells horrible when I straighten my hair.

I think it's because of all the hairspray/hair styling wax I use.

So how can I clean a flat iron without ruining/damaging it?How do you clean a ceramic hair straightener?
only when it's cool and unplugged

use a damp cloth to wipe it down, then apple some rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball or pad and use it to remove what ever gunk is on the iron. How do you clean a ceramic hair straightener?
Clean it with a cloth and alcohol.
Wipe it off with a slightly damp cloth.
I will clean it if you pay me

Ceramic hair straightener how do you tell the difference?

I have a flat iron and read that too much heat can cause hair damage unless it's ceramic. So how do I know the difference bweetween real ceramic and companys that claim that there ceramic but not really?Ceramic hair straightener how do you tell the difference?
usually it will say it on the box i have a ceramic one and they dont burn my hair i also use the heat spray to protect it from burning so look more carefully on the box it should say itCeramic hair straightener how do you tell the difference?
Usually when it just says ceramic it means that the plate is covered with a layer of ceramic. You need something which is 100% ceramic with adjustable heat and PTFC heating unit...

And mostly these ones are not cheap.

Chi is good... But i prefere Amika#1 Herstyler#2

    Check website herstyler.com
all heat damages hair even blow driers. ceramic plates give an even heat the plates rather than the metal plates having elements under them. Most of the ceramic plates today are ceramic it's the quality the varies in brands. Always use a thermal protecting spray when straightening!

    Cheers

a salon or beauty store the good ones are about $100-$150. mine is a ceramic its called a ';chi'; and its skinny about an inch wide. those are better cause you can get closer to the root.Where can i find ceramic hair straighteners besides online??
    target cosco
Don't know where you are but places like T.J. Max and Sally's Beauty Supply or any Beauty Supply outlet should have them. The thing with getting them online is that a lot of the time you can get them cheaper, even with shipping than you can in a store.
    ummm anywere
Walgreens. thats where i got mine.
ULTA beauty stores and stylist/salon places, like TradeSecret. You can find lower quality, cheap ones in Wal-Mart or a drugstore, but that isn't recommended for long-term use.
JC Penny salon has them but they are $100 in the store and only $55 on ebay.
hmm maybe a salon,wal-mart,target,k-mart maybe those?
    I found mine at a salon/beauty store.
Any beauty supply store,Walmart,Sears,Etc. If your wanting a decent one though then be prepared to spend at least 50$ or more. You get what you pay for and my chi works a heck of alot better then the con air one I had. Also get one with a temperature setting so you can control how hot it gets to keep from excessive heat damage.
i bought one from the hairdresser for $40 - and department stores all have them too.

ps - dont forget to use the special conditioner to protect your hair and make sure it is totally dry before using it
u can get one at walmart or ther is always the mall they always have them

If u have short hair or hair to shoulder length then dont get a straightner width larger than an inch and a half

and for longer have go from 1 and a half inches to 2 and a half

    Good Luck!
NEVER EVER EVER BUY ONE FROM A DRUG STORE!uggh....omg.its cheap but it doesnt last.it burns your hair and gives you mad split ends.sephora, ulta and target sell them.use heat protection spray before you straighten it.i read reviews before i buy a new one.ive heard pretty good thing about bed head, sedu and GHD

All hair straighteners damage your hair, but ceramic is not as bad.Do ceramic hair straighteners damage your hair?
    They all do.

Flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers, they all damage your hair.

Using a proper heat protectant spray/serum will help minimize damage while using these styling tools.Do ceramic hair straighteners damage your hair?
Basic rule of thumb. Any heat of any kind will damage the hair shaft. Heat couple with a pulling motion is even worse. So, ceramic or not, it hurts the hair. But it looks pretty:)
they all damage your hair. Straightening your hair is like burning it. Get some straightening gel or spray to put in your hair before you straighten. But ceramic is okay
yes but not as much you should still use heat protectent

any straightener under $20 probably isn't true ceramic. they may just have a ceramic coating. i use the revlon stylix, which is $26 and it works well. andis ceramic is also good, i think it's somewhere between $14 and $20. i'm pretty sure it isn't true ceramic though.Do you know of any ceramic hair straighteners under $20?

I have the same straightener! Anyways, decent ceramic straighteners tend to be quite expensive but I know of some for $40. So try to get your money back or borrow some, if you go to a drugstore you usually have a large selection with some pretty good deals.
get the revlon ceramic at walmart, like $18

all straighteners damage your hair, regardless of what they are.

you can fix it though, by using leave in conditioners or deep moisture treatments. always use a heat protector (normally they're sprays, available anywhere) before drying AND straightening, as it will protect your hair from the heat.Do ceramic hair straighteners permanently damage your hair?
My hairdresser says its the friction and not the heat that damages the hair. She suggested I try GRUND tiger protien reconstructor spray it in my hair before I use a iron. These product actually LIKES heat and the hotter the better. After a few weeks my hair was much stronger and healthier.Do ceramic hair straighteners permanently damage your hair?
Ceramic straighteners will not damage your hair like metal plates. Ceramic gets hotter, so it doesn't need to stay on your hair as long= less damage. If you need more heat, the longer it will stay on your hair to straighten it.
